New comic book pick up

Alright here we are again with the pick ups of the week are you ready because I know I am excited about some of the stuff that came out!

I'm gonna jump right to because not much has been going on so there really isn't much to say.

Here we go:

Dark Horse
  • The Strange Case of Mr. Hyde #3
  • The Goon #34
I can not begin to explain how excited I am to read this issue. The Goon was one of the comic books that sealed my fate with comic books in general. This is an amazing tale of the most BA anti hero ever. The story is never dull and always hilarious the two main characters The Goon and Franky have some of the best banter and are always on their toes. This is definitely for older audiences but is a great read. If you are getting into comic books pick this up if you are already into comic books and haven't picked this up you need to!

Image
  • Witch Doctor #1
  • Super Dinosaur #3
  • Last Mortal #2
  • Skull Kickers #8
  • The Walking Dead 86#
If you haven't picked up any of The Walking Dead you need to get up off you computer be it laptop or desktop and go to your nearest comic book shop and pick up volume one, two, and three. Why pick up the first three volumes you ask, well because after reading the first one you wont wanna stop reading. So I am doing you a favor by telling you to go and get a couple. This has to be in my top three favorite comic books of all time. What Robert Krikman puts his characters through is beyond belief, no character is safe anything can happen and what can go wrong will in fact go wrong. If you wanna be on the edge of your seat the whole time while reading you need to pick this up, this is a must read!

Marvel
  • Captain America: The First Avenger #4
  • FF #5
  • The Amazing Spider-Man #664
Not much to say other then I have really come to enjoy and care about Peter Parker and his alter ego Spider-Man. His story has been a joy to read thus far and I hope the issues that follow will continue to be and become more enjoyable.

DC
  • Batman: Detective Comics #878
  • Batman: Arkham City #3
  • Green Lantern: Emerald Warriors #11
  • Batman: Incorporated #7
  • Project Superman: FlashPoint #1
  • The Canterbury Cricket: FlashPoint #1
  • Green Arrow Industries: FlashPoint #1
  • Hal Jordan: FlashPoint #1
Yet again more FlashPoint stuff that looks super cool and a free pin with Project Superman and Hal Jordan. FlashPoint is crazy and a must read AS OF NOW! It could some how take a turn for the worst but we are gonna hope it doesn't and stays on the path that it is on, which is amazing.

New comic book pick up

Alright so I know I slipped up and didn't post last week. I couldn't because of many a things going done such as intergalactic wars, movies coming out, and fathers day. So please to be angry I will post now this weeks as well as last weeks pick ups.

So I shall get straight to the point and list this page up!!!!!! As well as add some thoughts on the issues and series that I love!!!

  • Invincible #80*
This series is by far one of the best out, especially along the line of superhero comic books. Robert Kirkman has got to be one of the best writers out today with series such as The Walking Dead, Haunt, and many more titles with Image and Marvel. This story is so strong and shows real struggle from very creative characters. If you are not into conventional superhero comic books you need to give this one a chance. I highly suggest going and picking up this series. You can get issue one for a dollar and you will want to keep getting them. This is a must read!

  • Star Wars Jedi: The Dark Side #2
I don't know much about this but I love Star Wars and I love Jedi's so I can't go that wrong with it but I'll let you know how I fell about as more issues come out.

  • DMZ:Citizen Zee #66
This is another one of those series that has just been amazing from issue one. Brian Wood knows how to write strong compelling characters that do not have easy lives. I am very upset to of found out that DMZ will end at issue 72 but it will be ending strong and fulfilling. This is an amazing story of a photo journalist who is put in and unbelievable and given an even more unbelievable task. This story is full of twists and turns you could never see coming, like I said this has always been a strong story through and through I will be sad when it is over. This is a must read!

  • NorthLanders:Thor's Daughter #41
Brian Wood is amazing simple as that. If you compare DMZ to NorthLanders there is only one thing that is similar and that would be amazing characters that are so deep and have so many layers they could be real people. I picked the first volume of NorthLanders only because I saw Brian Woods name on it and for good reason I got it. If you see something with his name on it pick it up. One of the coolest things about this series is that it isn't about one main character for the whole run of the series it follows The land and the people who have live there. Main characters switch with each story arch. This series could and should last forever but wont because it is being cancelled it will end at issue 50 which killed me when I found out. This is a must read!

  • Fables #106
I hate to sound repetitive but this is another one of those series that has never been hit or miss it has always been a home run. I picked up the first volume and had to get the second volume and then had to get the third, long story short I had to keep getting the volumes all the way up to 14 and then add the issues to my pull box. Bill Willingham is a very cool man who understands how stories work and what will keep his audience hooked and picking up issue after issue. If you like an sort of fairy tale you'll love this story where you never know what can happen and who will pull through strong in the end. This is a must read!

  • Cinderella: Fables are Forever #5
This follows Cinderella from Bill's Fables on her adventures. So after you have read Fables or some of it I think you will really enjoy this branch off series. There is one other 6 issue before this one and picking that up would be awesome because I know you would enjoy it.

  • Avengers Academy: Fear Itself #15
  • Avengers: Fear Itself #14
  • Fear Itself: Youth in Revolt #2
  • Invincible Iron Man: Fear Itself #505
  • Thunder Bolts: Fear Itself #159
The Fear Itself story arch has been interesting the concept is cool the only thing I have against it is that there is so much repetitive dialogue and information. The plot and whats is going on is recapped in every issue and is unnecessary. If I'm already this deep into a story I know what is going on and don't need to be reminded this much, the good thing is that is really my only problem with it. It is big and effecting everyone good and bad with some unimaginable stuff going on. Oh the other problem that I have with it is that every main comic books series is doing Fear Itself so there are so many branch offs that it is hard to keep up with everything going on. I suggest picking up the main Fear Itself Book one, book two, and so on.
  • Captain America: CORPS #1
  • Captain America: The First Avenger #3
  • Wolverine #11
The Wolverine series has been pretty cool and intense as hell... literally. It's a good series to pick up if you like the good old badA$$ vengeful Wolverine then pick this up I think it's worth a read and is pretty entertaining.

  • Green Lantern Movie Prequel: Abin Sur one shot
  • Static Shock Special one shot
Static Shock is definitely a guilty pleasure but it still held up to be a good one shot. Static Shock is also one of the titles that will get a reboot come fall this year. I am excited being a huge fan of the cartoon show and how awesome it was. I can not wait to pick up issue one in the fall.
  • Legion of Doom: FlashPoint #1
  • Grodd of War: FlashPoint #1
  • DeadMan and the Flying Graysons: FlashPoint #1
  • Wonder Woman and the Furies: FlashPoint #1
  • Lois Lane and the Resistance: FlashPoint #1
  • The Outsider: FlashPoint #1
  • Kid Flash Lost: FalshPoint #1
  • Reverse Flash: FlashPoint #1
All I can say about these and the FlashPoint series is if you are not reading it you need to. It is so crazy creative and everything you thought you knew is no more. I can't really say much else without ruining what is going on. But if you wanna chat about it I am more then happy to cause things is crazy. Plus the writing and art work are amazing.
  • Action Comics: Reign of the DOOMSDAYS #902
  • Green Arrow #13
Hands down one of my favorite comic book superheroes and this series has been doing him justice. Im excited to keep reading simple as that.

Alright well that concludes this weeks and last weeks comic book pick ups. Any questions or comments feel free to post and strike up conversation.

Happy Birthday

Yes I haven't posted the comic books yet but I have been really busy and they will be up tomorrow/today because I am working through the night adding stuff to them so do not worry.

In the mean time I wanted to make a post for a special someone who's birthday was technically yesterday but I call it today. Alright I'm gonna say today because I have come up with a rule about days and when they start and stop. A day doesn't end until you see the first jogger and or dog walker. So until you see that your night has not ended.

Any who the birthday that I have been celebrating all day is that of the wonderful talents of Bruce Campbell. He has done so many amazing B list movies but is an A lister in my heart. I never get tired of watching The Evil Dead series and if you haven't seen them go on netflix right now the first one is on instant. You may also recognize him from his cameos in the Spider-Man movies or even his lovely alcoholic ex spy character on the USA show Burn Notice.

This man is wonderful and to honor him I add this post and share a video of one of my friends who made a song called W.W.B.C.D (what would Bruce Campbell do) it is an amazing song and if you like it check out more of their stuff at Devon Kay and the Solution

Could I invest the rest of my gold?

What I was doing instead of blogging.
Hey guys, sorry about the lack of posts. I was out camping Friday to Monday and didn't get my posts done before I left. Still trying to get myself on a regular schedule for this.

So last Tuesday I was hanging with my friends Tadhg and Eli preparing for a new Dungeons & Dragons campaign I was supposed to launch this week in honor of my sister moving back to Milwaukee. In the end my friend Frank's sub for work fell through so the game has to be pushed back till after the 15th.

Working on character creation, Tadhg was looking at being a Cleric (as always) and couldn't figure out what to spend is left over gold on (also as always). Although it's not really fair when you compare yourself to Eli in this arena, seeing as how he always plays a Rogue and I'm pretty sure the day the Arms and Equipment Guide came out he shat himself out of pure joy.

It got to the point where Tadhg suddenly asked me if there was any way he could invest his money. ...What, do you want me to make a stocks and bonds system for this city?! How about if you put some skill points in... Knowledge (Economics). Or better yet, make it one of your domains.

Economics Domain
Deities: Boccob, Fharlanghn, Heironeous, Moradin, St. Cuthbert, Vecna
Granted Powers: You gain a +10% bonus when selling or buying goods from merchants.
Add Knowledge (Economics) to your list of cleric class skills.

Economics Domain Spells
1   Output  Critical chance drops 2 points.
2   Boom  Target corpse yields 10% more treasure.
3   Bust  Target gets -1/level (max -5) to attacks, damage and armor class.
4   Natural Disaster  30-ft. cone enemies' quality of life gets -3.
5   Boom, Mass  All corpses in a 35-ft. radius yield 10% more treasure.
6   Bust, Mass  All enemies in a 35-ft. radius get -2/level (max -10) to attacks, damage and armor class.
7   Investment  Next attack gets -5 to attack but +10 to damage.
8   Repossession  40-ft. cone targets gear vanishes.
9   Human Capital  Allies in a 5-ft./level (max 50-ft.) radius gain +5 to attack, damage, armor class and saving throws.

This is gonna be an interesting game...

Achievement... Lost

The second worst thing that can happen to you on the Xbox happened to me this past week. I lost over an entire games worth of achievements. Now, the absolute worst thing to happen in the Xbox community, of course, is the red ring of death. Luckily I've never had to endure that horrible sight.

Doooom!!!!
The set up:
My good friend Mr. Kevin G. lives down in Chicago, and
I go down there now and again to be sure he has someone to nerd-out with. Here comes the problem, Kevin doesn't have a wifi-adaptor for his Xbox (seeing as to how they're like a hundred bucks!) so I lend him mine. While I was down there I redeemed my gamertag and played through Skate 3. When heading back to my hometown of Milwaukee I left the wifi-adaptor with Kevin so he could continue playing CoD. Now a week or so goes by and I come across a Gamestop gift card in my room left over from Christmas (best day EVER). This is when I picked up Dragon Age: Origins and experienced the amazingness that is the Dragon Age world.

The realization:
You may have already noticed the fatal mistake I've made, but as a hope to prevent this from happening to others I will continue. Another week or so goes by and my friend Connor comes back into town, and I barrow his wifi-adaptor to check out the DLCs and updates for DA: O. This is when all hell broke loss. In a flash all my achievements from over the past week plus were banished and replaced with those from my time in Chicago. Sad day, my score dropped by a couple hundred points.

What's to be done:
The only thing that can be done, play through Dragon Age again. Oh the horror.... not like I was already planing on doing that anyways.

As Seen on TV!

So just a couple of weeks ago I was in Walgreens and stumbled upon the most wonderful aisle. As some would call it, the "As seen on TV aisle." This Walgreens had the whole shebang! There were your Shake Weights, your Slap Chops, Snuggies, Shamwows, Ped Eggs, and your Bumpits.

But this guy took the cake (if there ever was any). HD Vision Sunglasses... really? In case your normal vision was only in 480i. And if you look towards the bottom of the box, it shows that the road actually becomes clearer while looking through these glasses.

Now I give these produces a lot of grief, but the truth of it is that I was in that Walgreens for two reasons. One, waste and hour or so before the movie at the local budget cinema. And two, get snacks for said movie. (...don't look at me like that. We all do it!) But that adventure into the Walgreens did its job quite nicely.

I would never buy any these products, but I think I'm still a little happy they exist. What would I do while waiting for a movie other then shake my head at the things people spend their money on.

Google=Internet?

Is it just me, or is Google everywhere?! It started as just a search engine but has evolved into a juggernaut metropolis of all the web. One hub for all the internet. These guys even made their own web browser and word processor.

Google Docs is an online word processor, spreadsheet, and presentation drafter. All of which are stored online and can be accessed anywhere. Kinda like Dropbox?

Remember Map Quest? It used to be all the rage! You'd type in an address, and this handy website would give you directions on how to get there. Google looked at this and said 'Hey, that's cool. We could do that... only better!' So, Google decided to not only tell you where to go, but to show you. Next thing you know there's a van diving down your block with the weirdest camera you ever did see mounted on it taking pictures of your house. A bit creepy? Not for Google.

Google has bought out YouTube and Blogger. What's next: Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, Skype (well they already have Google Voice so...), Stumbleupon?

Stumble to replace 'I'm Feeling Lucky'
